When graphing two variables against each other, we will often find a linear (straight line) relationship. In these cases, we can rearrange a known equation to identify what the slope of the graph should represent. To do this, the y-axis variable must be put on the left hand side. That is, you rearrange the equation to look like:
Sometimes there will be no y-intercept so the equation will be in the form y=mx.
